So, today I paid a visit to one of our good customers, Tom, who runs the East Coast Cycles shop down Queen Street. Never been in there before so was good to have a nosy. I'm a bit dangerous in most environments (eyesight ain't too good) so when I went to touch a bike tyre and got my scarf attached to another bike I thought it best to keep my hands to myself. Tom had some T shirts printed by us a while back and said "I can't fault the product at all, great value and they wash really well" That's an actual quote, I didn't just make it up! The shop sells bikes, accessories, clothing and also carries out repairs and servicing. Another of the great things about it, is that as well as selling top of the range equipment (if you don't see it on the shop floor, fear not...he orders things in especially too) he has a savings club. This means that you can go in, pick a bike, put a 15% deposit down and then pay the rest off over a three month period. This is great...I've always been a fan of installment plans :)
Tom opened the shop five years ago but has been into cycling for over 25 years and is also a member of the Redcar lifeboat crew (I always want to ask lifeboat people questions like 'have you ever been stung by a jellyfish?' or 'have you ever had to go up on one of those helicopter ropes?' Unfortunately a customer came in before I got chance). Next year, Tom and two other members of the crew are thinking about competing in a local Triathlon (basically loads of running, swimming and cycling all in one race) and will be coming back to us for some more custom T shirts, lycra this time though!
Well, that's all from me for today, check the shop out if you get chance. If I consider a fitness regime in the New Year I'll definately be going back, especially if they can order one of those cool electric bikes in. Their website is www.eastcoastcycles.me.uk. Chow for now! (is it me or do I use too many exclamation marks?!!)
